Week 7 - Term 4

Week 7 Kia Ora Kākano Whānau, A few notices and reminders for the week. Swimming Kākano 6, Kākano 7 , and Kākano 8 will be swimming this week. Thanks for making sure your children have their swimming gear and a towel. Library Books All library books needed to be returned to school last week. Students may be coming home with a list of overdue books that might be still at home. Principal’s Morning Tea Three children from each class will be receiving an invitation to Principal’s Morning Tea this Thursday. Look out for their invitations later on this week!! School Magazine We are publishing a school magazine again this year, and this will be available during the last week of this term. It will be a great memento of 2021. Orders are taken now with the cost for the magazine being $10.00 . Week 6 - Term 4

Week 6  We hope you are all having a lovely weekend. Swimming: This week Kākano 4 and Kākano 5 will be swimming.  Please make sure your child has their swimming gear and a towel.  Remember to name your child’s belongings. HEALTH AND SAFETY :  A reminder that we need to ensure that our children are continuing to sanitise as they enter a building, remind children about coughing/sneezing into their elbow and washing hands after being in the bathroom.  If your child is unwell with a cough, runny nose or temperature they need to stay at home.   Sunhats: Sun hats need to be worn when children are outside.  If your child does not have their sunhat they are not allowed to play.  It is also recommended that children have sunblock so they can apply throughout the day. Library books: All library books need to be returned this week!  Can you have a look around your home and RETURN all school library books. Term 4 - Week 5

WEEK 5 TERM 4 2021 Welcome to Week 5!  No swimming this week for Kākano: The middle and senior students have extra swimming lessons again this week with an outside provider so unfortunately there is no swimming for KĀKANO again this week.  Gym competition:  Well done to all KĀKANO junior students who took part in the MIGS Gym competition. They all did extremely well and represented our school with respect and pride.  Thanks Brigitte Holmes for taking them to the comp along with parents and thanks to Kelley Kemp for helping Brigitte with the coaching of the juniors during the year.   Junior Baptism course  Next Saturday, 22 of our students will be making their first Reconciliation. Next week will be the final week that our twenty junior students finish their Baptism Course. Please keep them in your prayers. W4 - T3

  Kia Ora Kākano Whānau IMPORTANT: Friday 13th November. Teacher Only Day.  There will be no school on this day.  If you require care for your child you can ring Maryanne Roling from Glenholme Afterschool Care.  Maryanne’s contact numbers are: 07 347 0709 0211 215599 Swimming This week Kākano 4 and 5 will be swimming. Children will need to bring their named swimming togs and a towel everyday this week. KĀKANO 7 - WE ARE SWIMMING TOMORROW!! Because all our senior and middle schoolers are out at athletics day tomorrow. We get to have their slot in the pool! Please bring your togs and towel! Spreads for toast As many of you are aware, our toast in the morning is a big hit with the children. They love coming to school and being able to make their own toast. We are able to provide the bread for the toast, but we are coming to the end of the spreads we have at school, we will need donations of spreads. Term 4 (Mid Week - W3)

Kia Ora Kākano Whanau, We have been busy beavers this week at school and our brains are soaking up all our new learning at school and in the pool! Swimming... This week we have been learning to swim with our heads down, blowing bubbles, kicking our feet and holding a flutter board to get from one end of the pool to the other. Here are some of the photos of us in the pool! We are so lucky to have a school pool and all the kids love getting in for our swimming lesson session. Learning to swim and become confident in the water is so important especially in New Zealand as there is water like beaches, lakes and rivers everywhere. Please make sure that your child has their togs and towels in their bags on our swimming weeks. (Week 5,7,9) - We do not want our tamariki catching a cold from being cold so some days we may make the call to not swim and keep our tamariki in the warmth of the classroom.  Floating or Sinking... This week for our big book we have been focusing on sinking and floating
