Kia Ora Kākano Whitu Whānau,  We hope you have been enjoying your weekend and the sun that has been shining! We are entering a very special week for our children. The Holy Week. This week is the last week of Lent and we have so many special days to remember and learn about leading up to Easter Sunday, which is when Jesus rose from the dead.  We have some special learning happening for the children this week to help them learn about the Holy Week.  On Tuesday we have a Palm Sunday Liturgy at 12:15pm in the church On Thursday we have a Washing of the Feet Liturgy at 12:15pm in the hall.  We are teaching all our tamariki about what the week leading up to Easter Sunday is really about. This video could be very helpful to show your children and help you remember what the HOLY WEEK is about and why it is important that we recognise and celebrate the days leading up to Easter Sunday.  What is happening this week?  Swimming this week! Remember to pack your togs and towel! Monday Normal Sch

Wow what an amazing Gala we had, everyone looked like they really enjoyed the night. We would love to thank the hardworking PTA for providing a great night for our school community to come together.  We also want to thank all the amazing families and sponsors who supported the school in this successful event.  In a few weeks we will find out how much money has been raised for our school.   Even the teachers got to try the bouncy castle. On Tuesday we have rice day, this is a fundraiser for Caritas. The children need to bring in a bowl and fork and a gold coin donation. As a school we all come together and have our rice at lunchtime.  We remember how some children around the world only get rice to eat everyday, every meal. We talk about how we are so lucky to have the food available to us.  The children only need morning tea packed.   All students are expected to participate. It is a good thing to allow your child to experience what having limited choices feels like and plain food tas

Kia Ora Kākano Whitu whānau!  We have had a busy week of learning! We have been looking at our zone of regulation and how to manage our emotions. We looked at the Green Zone, Blue Zone, Yellow Zone and Red Zone. We have drawn some cool emoji art for each zone, taken some pictures of our faces in each zone and also told a story about each zone! You will be able to see these either in class or on EDUCA by the end of the week! Take a look at some of our cool zone photos!  Blue Zone: Sad, Tired, Bored and Sick!  Green Zone: Happy, Ready for learning, focused and calm. Yellow Zone: Frustrated, Irritated, Worried, Silly, Overexcited  Red Zone: Angry, Terrified, Out of Control, Hitting/ Yelling  Coping Strategies: Finger Breathing, Big Deep Breathes, Hugs, Talking to friends and Tissues for tears.  Each zone is linked to an Inside Out Character so they have a visual. Talk to your child at home about which zone they are in and what they could do to get back to the green zone.  I am so incredi

Wiki Ono - Week Six

Welcome to week 6 of Term 1. This week we move back to Level 1 which means parents are allowed back into our classrooms.  We are so proud of the way the children are able to manage themselves each day as they do their morning jobs.  You can support your child to become independent by encouraging them to carry their own school bag and to complete their morning routines. Kākano Sevens morning routine is: 1. Sanitise your hands 2. Book Bag in the Book Bag Box 3. Library Books in Library Box 4. Roll - Name on the board 5. Bag away! It is still important if your child is sick that they do not attend school.  Snotty noses, coughs, and tummy bugs have been doing the rounds.  Please keep your child at home if they are unwell! The First Aiders are fundraising this week and will have ice blocks for sale Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. If your child would like to purchase an ice block they can bring $1 to school. What is happening this week: Monday: Ice Blocks for sale at lunchtime $1  Tuesday: I
