Term 4 (Mid Week - W3)

Kia Ora Kākano Whanau,

We have been busy beavers this week at school and our brains are soaking up all our new learning at school and in the pool!

Swimming...

This week we have been learning to swim with our heads down, blowing bubbles, kicking our feet and holding a flutter board to get from one end of the pool to the other. Here are some of the photos of us in the pool!

We are so lucky to have a school pool and all the kids love getting in for our swimming lesson session. Learning to swim and become confident in the water is so important especially in New Zealand as there is water like beaches, lakes and rivers everywhere. Please make sure that your child has their togs and towels in their bags on our swimming weeks. (Week 5,7,9) - We do not want our tamariki catching a cold from being cold so some days we may make the call to not swim and keep our tamariki in the warmth of the classroom.

Floating or Sinking...

This week for our big book we have been focusing on sinking and floating. We have been able to link this to our writing and science. On Thursday we will be testing out somethings to see whether they float or sink. There are some of our predictions…

What is coming up this week...

Thursday
Experiment (Floating and Sinking) - Normal School Day - Swimming

Friday
Fun Friday - Sausage Sizzle and Juicies - Library Day - Swimming
