Mid Week - Wiki Toru Post

Kia Ora Kākano whānau, 

We have been busy little beavers this week! 


The children have been having a blast in our school swimming pool, it is awesome to see them so excited to get in the water and give everything a go! Kākano Seven is getting so good at getting ready for swimming and looking after their own things! Today our whole class was changed after swimming in 5 minutes!



Yesterday was Shrove Tuesday and we got to make and eat some yummy pancakes so that we could use up all of our yummy ingredients before the season of Lent. They all had a go at flipping pancakes, so they could be able to help you out in the kitchen when pancakes need flipping!


Today was Ash Wednesday and we attended a Liturgy in the Hall. We learned about Ash Wednesday before heading up to Father to get the ashes on our foreheads. 


We’ve started looking at rhyming words. We saw that lots of rhyming words sound almost the same and even have some wording endings that look the same - cat - bat - fat - mat. 


On Friday we have a sausage sizzle and juices available for lunchtime. $1.50 - Sausage Sizzle / $1.50 - Juicie. The children order in the morning in our classroom!


Important Reminders!


Swimming will continue until the end of the week so make sure your child has togs and a towel ready to go!


Library Books are due back on Friday for Library Day - Two books were chosen last week on Friday and were put into orange book bags. Please return the books in these bags so that we can pick 2 more books and return the old ones!


Please keep an eye out for book bags in bags this weekend! Poem books will be getting sent home in them.


Gala Information - In your child's bag this week there would have been an orange notice about Gala Day! Tomorrow marks the start of the Gala collections.  The hardworking PTA are in full preparation for our wonderful school Gala on Thursday 4th March. Your child had a note on Monday in their bag with some ideas to bring in each day.  Feel free to bring in things on any day.

  Mid Week Blog Yay - we are looking forward to seeing everyone back at school tomorrow.   Things you need to know as we head back to school at Alert Level 2. Kākano students (and siblings) can start arriving at school from 8:45am - 9:00am (this is the time before school care children arrive at school). Parents are encouraged to drop their children at the gate, if you are to come into school you will need to sign in using the QR code and follow the arrows to the classroom. No parents are to enter the classroom.  If you need to speak to your child’s teacher please email them and they will contact you. School gates will be locked from 9am.  If your child is late to school you will need to walk them to the office via the Carnot street gate. Wiki Iwa - Week Nine

Kia Ora Kākano Whitu Whānau,  We hope you have been enjoying your weekend and the sun that has been shining! We are entering a very special week for our children. The Holy Week. This week is the last week of Lent and we have so many special days to remember and learn about leading up to Easter Sunday, which is when Jesus rose from the dead.  We have some special learning happening for the children this week to help them learn about the Holy Week.  On Tuesday we have a Palm Sunday Liturgy at 12:15pm in the church On Thursday we have a Washing of the Feet Liturgy at 12:15pm in the hall.  We are teaching all our tamariki about what the week leading up to Easter Sunday is really about. Wiki Toru - Week Toru (Term 3)

  Week 3 We would like to thank everyone who came along to the three-way conferences last week.  These are a great way to celebrate the children's learning and look at what the children will be learning next. Today is the  Feast Day of Mary MacKillop and we will be celebrating this on Friday.  We celebrate this with  Mass on Friday at 12pm.  Parents and families are welcome to join us.  We have other fun activities to celebrate with the children during the day. Please remember school starts at 8:45am.  The teachers mark the roll  at this time. If your children arrive after this time they need to go to the office as they are late. Kākano 7 is going to Parish Mass for Term 3 on Monday at 9:00am. We will be having a shared morning tea afterwards at the St Marys Church.
