Kia Ora Kākano Whānau,  We hope you all had a restful and Holy Easter weekend. This week is a short school week.  We have noticed many of our tamariki are tired as we race towards the end of the term.  It is important for children to have an early bedtime to ensure they are getting enough sleep as well as lunch boxes that are filled with brain food such as fruit, yoghurt, vege snacks and sandwiches. Thank you to the families who have donated spreads for the children to use as they make their own toast and to those who have donated tools, and building supplies for our carpentry area.  Your generosity is much appreciated. I (Whaea Shayla) am back at school this week and am so excited to see all of Kākano 7! I am looking forward to seeing their smiley faces and getting back into class and learning together.   What a beautiful weekend before we start another great week at school. This week is GALA week!! It is an exciting time for all of our children and families. Thank you for supporting the PTA and continuing to bring in items each day. Attached is the sheet that all children would have brought home on Friday. There are prizes for those classes that bring in the most items! A reminder that the gala is on FRIDAY this week, not Thursday. No sausage sizzle on Friday this week. This week is a swimming week!! Make sure to bring togs and a towel everyday. On Friday morning there is St Joseph’s Mass in the church. This starts at 9AM and families are welcome to attend these. Please drop your children off to school as usual and head over to the church. Classes will walk over together. There is a house event on Friday afternoon for the children. Wiki Rima - Term 2

  Week 5 (rima) Talofa Kākano Whānau.  This week is Samoan language week. Did you know that samoan is the third most spoken language in New Zealand.   Another busy week in Kakano last week, on top of our normal week we also ran the Pentecost Liturgy.  We are so proud of how all our children participated in this.    We have been donated a large amount of craft resources and the children have had loads of fun creating some amazing spider webs outside.  It was great to see the children working alongside each other to create this.  If someone got stuck in the web they would work together to get them free. We also had a large amount of buttons and the children have been making their own jewellery. If you are having a clear out at home and have anything you are disposing of please have a chat with one of the teachers, because your junk could be an amazing resource for the children.
