Kia Ora Kākano Whānau,  We hope you all had a restful and Holy Easter weekend. This week is a short school week.  We have noticed many of our tamariki are tired as we race towards the end of the term.  It is important for children to have an early bedtime to ensure they are getting enough sleep as well as lunch boxes that are filled with brain food such as fruit, yoghurt, vege snacks and sandwiches. Thank you to the families who have donated spreads for the children to use as they make their own toast and to those who have donated tools, and building supplies for our carpentry area.  Your generosity is much appreciated. I (Whaea Shayla) am back at school this week and am so excited to see all of Kākano 7! I am looking forward to seeing their smiley faces and getting back into class and learning together.   Kia Ora e te Whanau,   We hope you have had an awesome weekend enjoying the sunshine and possibly looking out for our Matariki Stars in the early hours of the morning.   We are so close to the end of term and only have 4 more school days left! How did time fly so quickly. This week children need to be at school from Monday – Thursday as Friday is a Teachers Only Day. Please contact Mary-Ann Roling from Glenholme Afterschool on 347 0709 or 0211 215599 if you need childcare on this day.  We would like to congratulate all the children in Kākano 4, 5, 6, and 7 for the amazing assemblies they have prepared for the school in the last 3 weeks. You were all so brave and confident and we are so proud of you.   What a beautiful weekend before we start another great week at school. This week is GALA week!! It is an exciting time for all of our children and families. Thank you for supporting the PTA and continuing to bring in items each day. Attached is the sheet that all children would have brought home on Friday. There are prizes for those classes that bring in the most items! A reminder that the gala is on FRIDAY this week, not Thursday. No sausage sizzle on Friday this week. This week is a swimming week!! Make sure to bring togs and a towel everyday. On Friday morning there is St Joseph’s Mass in the church. This starts at 9AM and families are welcome to attend these. Please drop your children off to school as usual and head over to the church. Classes will walk over together. There is a house event on Friday afternoon for the children.
