Week 5 -  Kia Ora Kākano Whānau,  We are almost halfway through the term! We are so proud of how the children have been working and interacting in class and at school. It is awesome to see the friendships that the students have made with each other over the past few weeks. Please keep encouraging your children to do their jobs in the morning all by themselves! We have a few important notices for this week:  It has been announced that we will be returning to COVID-19 Alert Level Two . That means that there will be a few changes around the school with drop-off, pickups, and school events such as the Gala.  School Gates: Our school gates will not be unlocked until 8:30am during Level 2. Students will not be able to enter the school grounds until 8:30am. Gates will be locked again at 9:00am - 2:45pm. If you need to enter school grounds you will need to use Carnot St Gate.   Week 5 (rima) Talofa Kākano Whānau.  This week is Samoan language week. Did you know that samoan is the third most spoken language in New Zealand.   Another busy week in Kakano last week, on top of our normal week we also ran the Pentecost Liturgy.  We are so proud of how all our children participated in this.    We have been donated a large amount of craft resources and the children have had loads of fun creating some amazing spider webs outside.  It was great to see the children working alongside each other to create this.  If someone got stuck in the web they would work together to get them free. We also had a large amount of buttons and the children have been making their own jewellery. If you are having a clear out at home and have anything you are disposing of please have a chat with one of the teachers, because your junk could be an amazing resource for the children. The week ahead: Monday - normal school day. Mrs Mines and Mrs Marer...

Welcome to week 6 of Term 1. This week we move back to Level 1 which means parents are allowed back into our classrooms.  We are so proud of the way the children are able to manage themselves each day as they do their morning jobs.  You can support your child to become independent by encouraging them to carry their own school bag and to complete their morning routines. Kākano Sevens morning routine is: 1. Sanitise your hands 2. Book Bag in the Book Bag Box 3. Library Books in Library Box 4. Roll - Name on the board 5. Bag away! It is still important if your child is sick that they do not attend school.  Snotty noses, coughs, and tummy bugs have been doing the rounds.  Please keep your child at home if they are unwell! The First Aiders are fundraising this week and will have ice blocks for sale Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. If your child would like to purchase an ice block they can bring $1 to school. What is happening this week: Monday: Ice Blocks for sale at lunch...
