Wiki Toru - Week Three Notices

What a wonderful first week we had last week! It was great to see everyone and the children have already

settled in well with their new classes and teachers. Thank you for getting your child into school on time ready

for the day!

This week we start our Easter celebrations with the beginning of Lent. 

On Tuesday is Shrove Tuesday and we will be making pancakes with the class. Please bring a plate with your

child’s name on it for the pancakes.

Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and there will be a school liturgy in the church. Ash Wednesday is the first day

of lent and we will be talking about ways the children can show kindness and helpfulness during this time.

On Friday we have our opening school mass in the church. All are welcome to attend this. It starts at 9AM. Please drop your child to class as usual and make your way to the church to get a seat. Children will walk over with their classroom teacher. New students and families will be welcomed and blessed at this mass. New students will bring home an invitation letter this week.

This week is a swimming week! Please make sure that all children have their swimming togs and a towel every day.

Please send your child to school with their school hats otherwise they will not be able to play outside with all the other children. We are a SunSmart school and we all need hats!

  Mid Week Blog Yay - we are looking forward to seeing everyone back at school tomorrow.   Things you need to know as we head back to school at Alert Level 2. Kākano students (and siblings) can start arriving at school from 8:45am - 9:00am (this is the time before school care children arrive at school). Parents are encouraged to drop their children at the gate, if you are to come into school you will need to sign in using the QR code and follow the arrows to the classroom. No parents are to enter the classroom.  If you need to speak to your child’s teacher please email them and they will contact you. Wiki Iwa - Week Nine

Kia Ora Kākano Whitu Whānau,  We hope you have been enjoying your weekend and the sun that has been shining! We are entering a very special week for our children. The Holy Week. This week is the last week of Lent and we have so many special days to remember and learn about leading up to Easter Sunday, which is when Jesus rose from the dead.  We have some special learning happening for the children this week to help them learn about the Holy Week.  On Tuesday we have a Palm Sunday Liturgy at 12:15pm in the church On Thursday we have a Washing of the Feet Liturgy at 12:15pm in the hall.  We are teaching all our tamariki about what the week leading up to Easter Sunday is really about. Wiki Toru - Week Toru (Term 3)

  Week 3 We would like to thank everyone who came along to the three-way conferences last week.  These are a great way to celebrate the children's learning and look at what the children will be learning next. Today is the  Feast Day of Mary MacKillop and we will be celebrating this on Friday.  We celebrate this with  Mass on Friday at 12pm.  Parents and families are welcome to join us.  We have other fun activities to celebrate with the children during the day. Please remember school starts at 8:45am.  The teachers mark the roll  at this time. If your children arrive after this time they need to go to the office as they are late. Kākano 7 is going to Parish Mass for Term 3 on Monday at 9:00am. We will be having a shared morning tea afterwards at the St Marys Church.
