 Week 1 Term 3


Welcome back to T3!  We hope you all had a restful holiday break.


The teachers spent their holidays participating in professional learning and are keen to begin implementing our new learning with the children.   We also have been busy changing things up in our classroom and are excited to see what the children think of their new space.






Kakano 7 has now moved over to where we do our roll in the morning. We have moved to create a bigger and more realistic space full of play that is seen at school and home!


This week we welcome Mrs Jane Trask to the Kākano whanau.   Mrs Trask and her new children will be working in the room just outside of Kākano.  We can't wait to welcome our new friends.


What is happening this week…

Monday: Normal school day

Tuesday: Normal school day

Wednesday: Normal school day

Thursday: Matariki Liturgy 12:15 in the school hall (all parents and families are welcomed)

Friday: Library / Sausage Sizzle and Juicies for sale ($1.50 each) / School assembly (new children welcomed)


PTA Notices:

PTA AGM The PTA AGM is scheduled for  7pm Wednesday 28 July - first week back Term Three - in the school staffroom. All are  welcome to attend. There will be drinks and nibbles provided!!

Please come into the school via the Carnot Street gate and enter the building through the student entrance alongside the school office.

  Mid Week Blog Yay - we are looking forward to seeing everyone back at school tomorrow.   Things you need to know as we head back to school at Alert Level 2. Kākano students (and siblings) can start arriving at school from 8:45am - 9:00am (this is the time before school care children arrive at school). Parents are encouraged to drop their children at the gate, if you are to come into school you will need to sign in using the QR code and follow the arrows to the classroom. No parents are to enter the classroom.  If you need to speak to your child’s teacher please email them and they will contact you. School gates will be locked from 9am.  If your child is late to school you will need to walk them to the office via the Carnot street gate. School pick up for Kākano students (and siblings) will be between 2:45pm and 2:55pm from the church car park.  If you wish to pick your child up from another gate please notify your child’s teacher. Wiki Iwa - Week Nine

Kia Ora Kākano Whitu Whānau,  We hope you have been enjoying your weekend and the sun that has been shining! We are entering a very special week for our children. The Holy Week. This week is the last week of Lent and we have so many special days to remember and learn about leading up to Easter Sunday, which is when Jesus rose from the dead.  We have some special learning happening for the children this week to help them learn about the Holy Week.  On Tuesday we have a Palm Sunday Liturgy at 12:15pm in the church On Thursday we have a Washing of the Feet Liturgy at 12:15pm in the hall.  We are teaching all our tamariki about what the week leading up to Easter Sunday is really about. Wiki Toru - Week Toru (Term 3)

  Week 3 We would like to thank everyone who came along to the three-way conferences last week.  These are a great way to celebrate the children's learning and look at what the children will be learning next. Today is the  Feast Day of Mary MacKillop and we will be celebrating this on Friday.  We celebrate this with  Mass on Friday at 12pm.  Parents and families are welcome to join us.  We have other fun activities to celebrate with the children during the day. Please remember school starts at 8:45am.  The teachers mark the roll  at this time. If your children arrive after this time they need to go to the office as they are late. Kākano 7 is going to Parish Mass for Term 3 on Monday at 9:00am. We will be having a shared morning tea afterwards at the St Marys Church.
